How is it powered?

The Arcana Strum does not use disposable batteries; it features an internal lithium-ion battery that can be charged via a USB connection. Charging is accomplished through a standard USB connection to a 5V power supply or compatible computer device. A full charge takes approximately two hours, which provides about two weeks of operation depending on usage. While connected to USB power, the Arcana Strum can also be used as a MIDI device with computers or mobile apps, and the battery will charge simultaneously.

How to set it up

  1. Attach the Strum handle firmly in place. It’s OK to apply force while pushing down on the handle.
  2. Connect the Arcana Strum to a computer with the included USB cable.
  3. Open a web browser and go to https://www.arcana.school/login.html . It works on Chrome, Edge or Brave. If a pop-up message appears asking to confirm a MIDI device, click ‘Allow’.
  4. Power on the Arcana Strum by pressing the Power button for 3 seconds.
  5. Move the Strum Stick forward and back while pressing down on any key. You should be hearing the Arcana Strum playing on your computer. Find songs and lessons here: https://www.arcana.school/login.html

Accessibility

  • Designed with SEND Learning in Mind.
  • The main feature is a handle that mimics the sensation of strumming a guitar: the company behind the Strum, Arcana, have created the Strum so that it can be adapted and are happy to support where they can and will consider providing/designing different handle attachments – even custom ones. Several of these are available. If the perfect handle doesn’t exist, what might it look like?
  • Chord sounds with the press of a button.
  • Specifically crafted for the assistive technology market.
  • Compact.
  • Adjustable keys and handle sensitivity, to adapt to the needs of different users.
  • Supports both right and left-handed playing.
  • The Arcana eBox (approx. £80) is an adaptive device that allows individuals with different physical abilities to play the Arcana Strum instrument using accessible switches and sensors.
