Dorset’s rural arts charity Artsreach is thrilled to partner with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra once more this winter, presenting a programme especially for families at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton in the first of three concerts this season.

In Musical Families the sonic possibilities of string instruments are explored as 12 Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians present a colourful programme featuring Karl Jenkins’ beloved Palladio, Holst’s charmingly bubbly and joyful St Paul’s Suite and an ethereal Lullaby from Gershwin. Rapidly changing musical colours, exploding gestures and fleeting melodies create a wondrous soundscape of a Starburst before the lofty melodies of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Novelletten drifts back down to earth in a fascinating programme of musical exploration, for an audience of all ages.

Touring to The Exchange, Sturminster Newton on Thursday 20 November, Musical Families will be presented by the musicians as they unravel the invisible strings entwining twentieth and twenty-first century music, composers from across the globe and their relationship with the BSO. Presented in partnership with Artsreach, tickets and full details are available online at www.artsreach.co.uk
