Primary membership packages:

Our membership packages are  designed to fully support you to develop musical opportunities for the children and young people in your school. Dorset Music Service works closely with schools to create and develop their School Music Development Plan (SMDP) and our membership offer aims to help you deliver high quality musical opportunities and achieve the goals on your SMDP.

There are three support packages on offer for 2025/26 and regardless of which package you choose, your school will receive access to:

  • Wellbeing resources
  • Access to CPD training, webinars and recordings
  • Access to our tuition subsidy to support under-resourced pupils
  • Unlimited check in meetings with our team of Music Area Leaders.
'Staff' membership package includes: access to a community of learning that meets once per term to support staff; one-to-one mentoring for ECTs and MSLs; three-hour visit to do a learning walk and provide feedback. 'Curriculum' membership packages includes: support in creating and reviewing music documents for your school (up to three hours); a class set of instruments to develop instrumental playing (subject to availability); access to a range of curriculum resources. 'Co-curricular' membership package includes: guidance and support in setting up music clubs and instrumental tuition; music club support for one session - for example, leading a session or supporting and offering suggestions; a small set of mixed instruments for 1 year to lead your own 'have a go' sessions or to enable a music club (10 instruments). All packages also include access to: wellbeing resources; CPD training, webinars and recordings; tuition subsidies for under-resourced pupils; unlimited check-in meetings.

*More information about our tuition subsidies can be found here: Subsidies for Instrument Lessons in Schools

Package 1 – Staff:

The ‘Staff’ package is designed for schools aiming to enhance their staff’s confidence and skills in delivering music education. Schools will receive support to evaluate their current curriculum delivery and improve the quality and outcomes for students. This package focuses on assessing the current capabilities of your staff and maximizing their skills and confidence to deliver high-quality music lessons.

Package 2 – Curriculum:

Our ‘Curriculum’ package is designed for schools with teachers who are confident in teaching music but need support and resources to develop their curriculum. We will alleviate the pressure on your school by transforming your ideas for music education into comprehensive documents and templates. Alternatively, we can review your current music curriculum and provide you with our suggestions.

Package 3 – Co-curricular:

The ‘Co-Curricular’ package is intended for schools that aim to offer extended musical opportunities for their pupils. This package supports the development of music groups and opportunities outside the standard curriculum, inspiring students to cultivate a love for music.

Bolt-on items:

Once you have picked your package, you may wish to consider if you want to purchase any of our other services for a small additional fee to further develop the music provision in your school (these can be purchased via Nexus):

  • Subsidised access to Sing Up
  • 1hr bespoke twilight training for your school
  • 1hr workshop for one class

What do I need to do next?

Please note, you must check your purchase out on Nexus for us to deliver the support to you. We will not begin your support if the package is just in your basket and cannot guarantee that late bookings will receive their full package.

Your membership package will run in line with the academic year 2025/26 and can be purchased via Nexus from April 2025. If you are an academy, you can still purchase membership now and you won’t be charged until your new financial year.

How much will it cost?

Prices are based on the number of pupils on roll. Nexus will automatically adjust your purchase to match how many pupils you have.

**Prices shown are net, VAT will be added to your purchase if applicable.
